A controversial article posted this month at www.guns.com titled “Down and Dirty Solutions to Hiding your Handgun (At Home Edition)” has raised many eyebrows and caused a certain gun manufacturer some embarrassment.
Recently, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) Director of Communications Ladd Everitt spent time with Maryland gun dealer Andy Raymond, who flirted with the idea of selling a newly-marketed “smart gun.” Here is Ladd’s recounting of their day together.
Normally, Mother’s Day is occasion for warm, love-filled greetings; and even peace advocacy. Pro-gun activist Mike Lynn of Memphis, Tennessee, however, seems to have a different idea about how the holiday works. When you work in the field of gun violence prevention, you get used to angry and threatening correspondence from the other side, but […]
A revealing moment occurred during this year’s annual National Rifle Association (NRA) convention in Indianapolis when Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre launched into a stunning tirade against the rule of law at the organization’s Members’ Meeting.
It was National Rifle Association (NRA) CEO Wayne LaPierre who informed the nation that “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” after the Newtown massacre, in the kind of simplistic, absolutist language so favored by his organization. We also have a clear picture of the weapons he […]
On November 9, 2013, a group of heavily armed Open Carry Texas (OCT) protesters surrounded a Blue Mesa Grill in Arlington, Texas while brandishing shotguns and military-style rifles. Inside the restaurant, a member of the group Moms Demand Gun Sense for America (MDA) was peacefully convening a lunch meeting with three other women to discuss […]
The bedrock belief of the modern pro-gun movement is insurrectionism—the perverted notion that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to shoot and kill elected officials, law enforcement officers, and military service members when one personally senses “tyranny.” And pro-gun activists are never shy about indicating they are prepared to use violence to get their […]
Each year, our country observes Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from their “Day of Unity,” which was first conducted in October 1981. The intent was to connect advocates for battered women who were working to end violence against women and […]
